There was a song by Dire Straits, “Why worry?’’, I think that went something like that “There’s always sunshine after rain, there’s always laughter after pain…”. I guess sometimes it’s true. I just realized that song is from some twenty odd years ago. Damn, I’m getting old if I remember something that ancient.
Apart from thinking of vacation, I was paying close attention to CAD crosses. They gyrated wildly, with, on Friday, CAD behaving like JPY let off the leash, not a boring, old CAD. But first things first.
I’ve been waiting for some strength in JPY for, I don’t know, couple of months now. Finally, JPY raised it’s head a little, and amazingly enough I managed to be ready for it. First halve of the week I was up to my ears in JPY trades, across the board, all discretionary accounts and ALL JPY crosses.
The bottom after second short trade looked to me like a more serious obstacle, so there were no more trades to the downside.
Trading in our services were more across all currencies, but the results were also good. Company website has been updated and can be seen by following this link:
http://www.spectrumforex.com/weeklycomments/07012007.htmlSadly, the BUY in EUR-JPY was the only LONG trade in any JPY crosses I took. I have something to analyze here, I recognized the opportunity, timed it right but still failed to fully capitalize on it. In retrospective, I guess I didn’t want to spoil the results from couple days before. Analysis-paralysis or just plane old laziness are more likely causes. I should be angry with myself but in light of what happened Monday and Tuesday, I’m actually a very happy camper.
And more…
As a matter of fact I also had two good trades in USD-JPY and one each NZD-JPY and CHF-JPY. And the rest of the week was very good in other currencies.
For the next week I focus on CAD with a bias to it’s weakness and JPY with a bias to see some strength. I think we’ll see some movement there, even if my “bias” is not correct.
This is one to remember for a long time. They don’t come around often enough…
